If you’re looking for a chalet with plenty of space to relax, cozy rooms in alpine style and stunning glacier view, Alpine Lodge Dachstein is definitely a great choice. The upscale chalets – there are 4 of them – are the perfect choice for a group of friends or an entire family who wants to experience the Reiteralm ski slopes or Dachstein Glacier, the year-round skiing area.

I initially booked an apartment but got a free upgrade to Mitterspitz lodge, the 190 sq m chalet which can receive up to 10 – 12 persons.

As we entered the living room, there was definitely a “wow” moment when we looked out of the large, capacious windows and realised that Dachstein Glacier was right in front of us. What a spectacular view!

The large living room is equipped with cosy sofas, a wonderful traditional fireplace, a big dining table and a large kitchen appointed with all amenities you need. We went out for lunch and dinner but spent long warm nights in front of the fireplace drinking a glass of red wine.

With 4 bedrooms (all having en-suite baths) and 1 special bedroom with kids bunk bed plus a play corner for the little ones, Mitterspitz lodge offers total comfort and privacy for larger groups. I can not imagine a more intimate place in which to prepare for a day on the snow or come back to when I’ve tired myself out.

MUST DO’S
You shouldn’t miss the 3000 m high Dachstein Sky Walk, a platform with glass bottom where you really feel on top of the Alps! The kids will have fun in the Ice Palace, situated in the heart of the glacier.

WINING & DINING
For a delicious dinner plus excellent wines, book a table at Die Tischlerei in Schladming. I enjoyed their tasteful dishes and we spoiled ourselves with Monfalletto Barolo D.O.C.G – for connoisseurs only. 🙂
