Springtime is all about long weekend getaways to enjoy some pampering in the sun. And what better way to relax and savour delicious cuisine than heading to Italy – home to stylish hotels, fantastic food, and great wines?
We’ve spent Easter at Savoia Excelsior Palace Trieste, a 4-star deluxe hotel located on the shores of the Adriatic Sea, and we faced the dilemma of “so much to taste & visit, so little time!”. This hotel is near Piazza Unita d’Italia, the main square in Trieste, and the easy walk to shops and restaurants make it a stand-out option. If you’re looking for a culinary trip, go for it!

Overview
Blending the gracious charm of a bygone age with contemporary luxury, Savoia Excelsior Palace Trieste has its own unique sense of style. It’s a member of Starhotels Collezione, so expect classical refinement combined with Italian flair.
On top of that, the hotel boasts one of Trieste’s most distinctive bars – Le Rive – a stunning, bright open space, with opulent high ceilings, magnificent chandeliers, and grand windows to let in the light.

Rooms & Suites
The 144 rooms and suites have an elegant vibe and appeal to the discerning traveler with amenities such as sumptuous beds, high-quality linens, marble bathrooms and a feeling of exclusivity.
For a truly unique experience, stay in one of the awesome suites, offering panoramic views over the Gulf of Trieste! The Presidential Suite is spacious (75 sqm) and looks like it has come straight out of the pages of an interior design magazine – an indulgent space to retreat to after a day spent touring Trieste. Elegant interiors designed with rich fabrics and furnishings, a sumptuous king size four-poster bed and the Calacatta marble bathroom – all contribute to a relaxing and memorable stay on the waterfront.

Moreover, this deluxe hotel is very pet friendly, and your dog will be treated like a king.

Delicious Eats
You can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner at Savoy Restaurant by Eataly, and the quality of each dish is astonishingly high along with the perfect accompanying wine. The restaurant boasts an extensive wine list, and when it comes to dessert, you’ll have a hard choice…

To Dos While You’re Here
If you’re a meat-lover ask the concierge to book you a table at Bracerie Venete – you need to try the mouthwatering beef! Don’t forget to indulge in the rich flavours of a glass of Barolo…

Trieste has many delicious restaurant options, but make sure not to miss out on Chimera di Bacco, a small restaurant which is perfect for an intimate dinner. Spoil yourself with fresh seafood and exquisite white wines! For more info, click on the link above.
If you are looking for a peaceful place to relax, then head to Portopiccolo Beach Club, and spend your day lazing in the sun. The club is about 20-minute drive from the hotel, and it attracts a well-heeled local and international crowd. Please note, it’s pricy but worth the experience!

But if you’re into history & arts, go visit Castello di Miramare located about 8 km north-west of Trieste.

With all that being said, Italy is always a good idea… and it will always have the best food and wine. Once here, you irrevocably fall in love with this country.
Thank you to Savoia Excelsior Palace Trieste – Starhotels Collezione for the wonderful stay! We’re already daydreaming about our next trip to Trieste.
