Ever traveled solo? I’m not the type but I’ve done it once and it turned out to be a memorable vacation.
With an impressive beachfront location, the luxury 5-star Jordan Valley Marriott Resort & Spa is the perfect retreat that has it all – rejuvenating spa, waterfront pools and gourmet dining. And on top of this, the Dead Sea healing powers.

If you plan to visit Jordan, fly Austrian Airlines, the best possible connection Vienna – Amman, just a 4-hour flight and you’re there! Book a taxi in advance as Jordan Valley Marriott Resort & Spa is an hour’s drive from Amman. However, it makes a great base from which to explore the sights along the Jordan Valley.

The Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth at 429 meters below sea level. The dry climate, low allergen content in the atmosphere, reduced UV levels and high mineral content in the water have all been found to reduce the stress levels in the human body.
While there, I met a lot of solo travelers who use to come once a year to this hotel in order to experience the genuine wellness and take advantage of the healing qualities of the Dead Sea – which has a salinity of about 34.2% compared to salinity of the Mediterranean at about 3.8%.

Being there only by myself, I followed the daily schedule of other solo travelers – waked up early, enjoyed a heavenly breakfast, spent the whole day on the beach covered in dark virgin sea mud and float in the salty water. In the afternoons I went swimming in the lovely infinity pool and got pampered in the luxury spa.

Now let me tell you about the food: dinner was a feast for the senses! I love Arab cuisine and the Marriott Chef exceeded my expectations. The service is excellent – professional and attentive without being annoyingly exuberant.

Bottom line: jet off in October/November or April/May latest and rejuvenate in beautiful surroundings! A Jordan trip experience will stay with you forever!
MUST-DO: Petra Tour
If you’re in Jordan, you cannot leave without visiting Petra. The Nabateans city carved in the Desert Mountains is one of the New7Wonders of the World. It’s a 2-hour drive from the hotel, but you should plan a full day trip, since you need at least 4 hours to explore the wonders of this place.

Take a trip with your tour operator or join a group; you need to hear the history of Petra from the ones who know to tell it. To explore all the area – it’s quite a long walk – better ride a camel! Horses and donkeys also available. You can find them in front of Al Khazneh (The Treasury Church featured in the Indiana Jones movie) or at the site entrance.
