Wagner's Aparthotel Achensee

Powder Snow Days & Cozy Nights at Wagner’s Aparthotel

The Tyrolean Alps need no introduction – they are known across the globe, but there are still many undiscovered villages offering ultra-cozy accommodation options. One such accommodation is Wagner’s Aparthotel located in Pertisau, Achensee. Best part? This new alpine hotel is surrounded by mountains like a pearl in an oyster shell.

The appeal of Wagner’s Aparthotel lies not only in the stunning natural surroundings of the Austrian Alps but also in the well-thought-out design. Firstly, it’s a newer property to the Achensee landscape, having opened its doors in summer 2018. Secondly, as soon as you step into this 4-star hotel you instantly feel a sense of family & warmth. Lastly, its location near the Karwendel Cable Car enables you to have an easy-going ski vacation.

Cross-country skiing is up!
Besides, the cross-country skiing trails are snow-assured starting 20th of December.

So what makes Wagner’s Aparthotel so special you ask? Well, it’s tranquility! This is no buzzing hotel, just a quiet mountain retreat with stunning views. We’ve been here for Christmas and had a memorable time. Here’s the story of our cozy and laid back stay!

WHAT WE LOVED: From the welcoming vibe of the interiors to the energy between owners – Josef & Alexandra Kirchmair – and staff members, it’s very apparent that the people who work here love what they do and enjoy bringing the best possible experience to you.

Karwendel Nights

You can choose from an array of accommodations, but no matter which you choose, you’ll be in for a restful stay. All the apartments and studios are homey and inviting. And everything from the country-chic room design to the modern bathrooms and generous terraces will make you feel like you’ve discovered one of Tyrol’s most secret paradise escapes.

We’ve stayed in Karwendel Gartenjuwel – a generous apartment featuring 71 square meters (sleeps up to 6 people). There is a master bedroom, a kid’s bedroom, a cozy living room with a well-appointed kitchen unit, a state-of-the-art bathroom and a winsome terrace.

Beyond the cozy interiors you would expect from any Tyrolean hotel stay, my favorite aspect of the apartment was the BED – it felt like sleeping in a cloud! Scroll down to see the view from the master bedroom.

So when you’re ready for a little ZEN, all you have to do is have a seat on the terrace of the apartment, and enjoy the VIEW. In addition, Gartenjuwel has chalet-style accents, the lighting is warm, and the air smells of fresh pine. And there’s more: design lamps, Nespresso coffee machine, 2 large flat screen TVs (kids will be more than happy!), and a huge walk-in shower.

In short, if you plan on spending a lot of time at the hotel relaxing, Karwendel Gartenjuwel or Karwendel Premium are perfect for you.

Delicious Eats & Drinks

By staying in the self-catering apartments you can mix and match self-catering with hotel services and facilities of their sister hotel – Wagnerhof located just a stone’s throw away. Besides, the luxury half-board is so tempting, that I bet you don’t want to cook while on vacation. Am I right, ladies?!

Moreover, the restaurant’s atmosphere is perfect – it’s about more than just a dining room away from home. Factors such as music, lighting, and artwork combine to create comfort, intimacy and romance.

Such a warm ambiance!

For breakfast you can press your own vegetables juice and mix a delicious Bircher Muesli before loading up your plate with Tyrolean cheese, real honeycomb, pastries, smoked salmon or eggs cooked to order. When it comes to dinner, the menu fuses Tyrolean and international classics: expect mouth-watering fish and seafood, excellent beef, tender duck, and yummy appetizers. Each dish presented to us looked like a true work of art, with interesting combinations of flavours, colours and textures. So this is a place for serious connoisseurs.

Dinner Tyrol
Savour & grace

Quality meats and fish feature high on the menu here – you’ll love it!

Creamy, rich seafood pasta

The elegant & ultra charming host of Wagnerhof, Claudia Kirchmair (she wears traditional Tyrolean dresses to die for), will help you choose the right wine for the 5-course dinner. So make sure to ask her for a ‘Big John’ Cuvée Reserve by Scheiblhofer – this red wine is like a dream come true!

Big shout out to the Kirchmair family for the excellent service! © Wagnerhof

Wellness & Spa

Whatever you plan to do, you must make sure you save time for a little spa action – you’ll be missing out if you don’t. For soothing your tired muscles after a day’s hiking or skiing in the Alps, the wellness area of Wagnerhof will be ready and waiting for you on your return. There’s a Bio Sauna, a Finnish Sauna as well as a Steam Bath. Tempting, right?

Then, it’s time to retire to your cozy apartment with gorgeous wooden Alpine features to watch the stars come out over the mountains.

To Dos While You’Re Here

With numerous winter activities for the family, like skiing, snowboarding and cross-country skiing, to the romantic sleigh rides, Pertisau has something for everyone! Moreover, the Zwölferkopf Ski Area is suitable for beginners and intermediate-level skiers because of the gentle slopes – this makes it a quiet place great for families with kids.

But for those who don’t have the need for speed and prefer more chilled out activities, there is plenty to keep you occupied too. Go on a snowshoeing hike in the mountains to view the stunning landscape.

Achensee Austria
If you listen carefully, the silence is magical.

And don’t think for a second that I have covered it all. Achensee region offers a never-ending range of local events providing authentic Tyrolean culture. This is indeed a place you do not want to leave, and when you do it is with one hope – to come back. So if you’ve never visited Pertisau, then 2020 might be the time to give it a try! Don’t wait too long to secure your ski vacation as this new hotel can fill up quickly.
