Located less than four hours away from Vienna, Villa Hygiea is Pörtschach’s best kept secret, and without a doubt one of Wörthersee’s most romantic getaways. Its sumptuous architecture and gorgeous garden are features that don’t go unnoticed when laying eyes on this villa for the first time. For most people, it is love at first sight.

Comprehensively renovated in 2018, this elegant villa features private lake access and spectacular sunset views. Not to mention, it also has its own history – it was built by Franziska Lemisch in 1876 during the Austrian-Hungarian empire. Franziska was the wife of a doctor, and named it Hygiea after the ancient Greek Goddess of Health. The current owners Alexandra & Josef Willroider had an inner wish to renovate this special place where they could welcome guests in a magical yet familiar setting. And the result? A place full of charm offering true privacy and relaxation.

With ample space to host several families or a group of friends and a 3.000 sq m garden, it is no wonder that Villa Hygiea is one of the most booked properties in the region. Moreover, its quiet and intimate atmosphere is unique.
Boutique Apartments
With only 6 self-catering apartments (two of them located in Viletta – the summer house), Villa Hygiea affords guests lots of serenity. The apartments are luminous, with a cozy bedroom and an adjoining living room featuring all the amenities of comfortable living. Here’s a list of what you’ll find in these apartments: a fully equipped kitchen, espresso machine & organic coffee, washer and dryer, a safe, blow dryer, Smart TV, free wifi, floor heated rooms and bathrooms, box spring beds, organic L’Occitane soaps and shampoos, a pair scissors to pick your own flowers from the garden, and a list of the best places, sporting facilities and restaurants in the area.
There are different apartment types to choose from at Hygiea, and all share the same design: immaculate white walls, heavenly beds, and premium white cotton bedding. Scroll down for more photos of the apartments and a few other helpful tips!

Magnolie apartment is great for up to 4 adults and 2 children, and it’s located on the first floor of the villa, offering one carport parking place. There are two bedrooms with box-spring double beds, and two bathrooms with rain showers and a washer-dryer.
The living area includes a pull out sofa, table, chairs, LED-TV and a fireplace! The fully equipped kitchen has a ceramic stove top, a refrigerator, a freezer compartment, a dishwasher and a Nespresso coffee machine to get you out of bed in the morning. Plus, the garden loggia has lakeside views and comes with balcony furniture.

And there’s Glyzenie apartment! The large bathroom of this self-catering apartment is made with love and has an inviting walk-in shower. However, the most-eye-catching feature is the private veranda.

GOOD TO KNOW: your four-legged friend is welcome in Lavendel, Magnolie or Franziska apartment for an extra fee of 15€ per night. Comfy doggy beds and dog bowls are delivered to your apartment.

On top of this, guests are welcome to use the Barbecue Pavilion in the garden just steps away.

Lake Vibes
The private dock is a major draw, and is located about a 2 minute walk from the villa and is stunningly beautiful. Best part? Mattresses, deck chairs, parasols and stand up paddle boards are provided by the hotel.
But you don’t need me to tell you that this place is gorgeous — just look at the pictures!

Once here you’ll quickly realize how peaceful and beautiful this place is… Simple pleasures like a calming view and a refreshing splash in the water is all you’ll need for a stress-free vacation. Moreover, there’s loads to do here from SUP boarding, snorkeling, kayaking to boating and swimming.

Actually, I almost didn’t wanted to share this private dock for fear that it will become not-so-secret in the near future. We loved the privacy and facilities it offered! Be prepared to become a Wörthersee fan as this villa will raise the bar for your future trips.

Wining & Dining
Villa Hygiea is around 10 minutes by car from Velden am Wörthersee, famous for its VIP summer parties, and high-end restaurants. However, Velden am Wörthersee isn’t a place where you do things by halves. It’s all about big speed boats, big hats and big wallets. And fine dining here can come at a price.
For the high-end diner who loves a truly exquisite place, Seespitz Restaurant (Falkensteiner Schlosshotel Velden) is not to be missed. And if you’re looking for top quality service, gourmet food, and gorgeous lake views, La Terrasse (Hotel Schloss Seefels) located in Techelsberg am Wörthersee is the perfect dinner choice. Last but not least, Goritschniggs, a wallet-friendly restaurant located in Velden, serves the best medium rare ribeye steaks in the area.

Well, that’s all for now from Carinthia! If you have any specific questions that I didn’t address, visit www.villa-hygiea.at or go ahead and contact Alexandra to inquire about a booking (info@villa-hygiea.at).
Happy swimming, everyone! This post is brought to you in collaboration with Villa Hygiea, however, opinions are all mine.
